Russia 1900-2014
Political:
Russia's political situation took a complete one eighty from a monarchy to communistic. For the majority of this time period Russia is communist until the nineteen eighties when the soviet union collapsed and Russia became a Republic.
Economy:
Russia's economy has been all over the map during this period of time. They've been through huge depressions and huge times of wealth. Their economy has made the switch from Feudalistic to Communistic and finally to Market.
Religion:
During the period of Communist rule all religion was banned in Russia, but not in all Communist societies. In today's world, most Russian people are Orthodox Christians or Atheists.
Society:
The society of Russia was highly repressive. They were extremely hierarchal in their policies. They were also very sexist and still are today, expecting women to be more of a possession than a person. While women do have rights, the societal standard for women is still to be home makers.
Innovations:
Many of their innovations were in their industrialization, which helped and hindered their economy. But also, they experienced many scientific advances during the cold war and arms race.
Arts and Architecture:
There was not much artistic development in this time period because of Russia's repressive government controlling and censoring all of what the public could see and do. That included arts and architectural design.
Near Geography:
The size of the Soviet Union grew to be over half of the Asian continent. This facilitated the spread of their culture as well as the idea of communism which was formatted differently as it went from country to country. Today, however, Russia's size has significantly decreased due to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
